How can special tools help you? With the ever increasing complexity of components manufactured using ‘done-in-one’ technology on high powered multi-axis machine tools, the pressures on the tooling to perform with precision and consistency are enormous.
While Quickgrind Ltd. offers an extensive range of off-the-shelf standard tools, increasingly the most satisfactory and productive solution is to create a special.
Using KBS (Knowledge Based Systems) software that enables us to analyse each tool before commencing manufacture, the software allows Quickgrind’s Special Tooling designers to effectively ‘proof’ a tool and redesign any flaws before you put it into manufacture.
This saves expensive and time consuming proving out and ensures that you get the exact tool you need, ready to go into production as soon as it is delivered.

Materials and coatings:
It is essential that the correct tooling material is applied to a cutting operation to ensure that optimum tool life is achieved coupled with maintained accuracy.
Quickgrind manufactures tools from high grade solid carbide or high speed steel and will be happy to make recommendations on which material is best suited to a particular application.
Tools can also be coated with special PVD material to extend tool life when hard machining. For very little extra cost, coatings can produce significantly extended tool life without compromising the accuracy.
Quickgrind will be happy to advise on the appropriate coating for a specific application.
